Just came back from a once-in-a-lifetime day in Italy. Since we knew that my dad got a chance to work for the Swiss Pavilion at the EXPO 2015 in Milano my mother and I decided to visit him during his time there. We were very lucky that we got tickets for the train ride to Rho Fiera where the World Exhitbition take place. So today we took the EuroCity from Brig and traveled 2 hours to Italy. At the entry-gates we waited almost one hour but as we finally entered the EXPO area we were really impressed how many people we saw. The slogan of the EXPO is „Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life“. The Countries put this slogan into action. Examples: On the roofs of the German Pavilion are solar panels and the walls of the USA building are made with green plants.
The EXPO take place for the second time in Milano. The first time was in the year 1906 and the topic was „transport“. They expect around 20 mio. visitors from May 1 untill October 31, 2015. Since today I think that they will reach this goal. I’ve never seen so many people in just one day. It was an amazing experience and we were happy to see my dad but he had to work the whole day and couldn’t join us.
So my mom and I checked out the Pavilions of the Countries. We were really inspired by the Architecture and Creativity. Unfortunately there were hunderd thousands of people and really never-ending queues to see the interior of the buildings. We didn’t want to wait for hours and so we’ve just seen the Pavilions from the outside.
Back in the train I was so tired but totally amazed by this EXPO. I’ve never seen something like this before. So if you have the chance to visit this EXPO in Milano you should really do it. Don’t forget to stop by the Swiss Gallery to enjoy a delicious Raclette made by my Dad untill Wednesday 😉
